Calling all grilled cheese enthusiasts! Located in Yorktown, The Wedge offers over 20 artisanal grilled cheeses at affordable prices. The restaurant also specializes in homemade soups such as white bean chicken chili, homestyle potato, bacon cheeseburger chowder, and walking taco soup.

After trampling in on a cold, winter day, I order the goat cheese sandwich and chips. The warm goat cheese, spinach, and strawberry jam creates a unique sweet and savory combination sure to please anyone’s palette. My fellow co-pilots choose the chicken parmesan sandwich and the goat cheese and mushroom Brie bisque combo (pictured above).

Grilled cheese brings fond memories of my mom preparing tomato soup and the American classic after soccer practice or when I craved a 10pm snack. Although I love gourmet grilled cheese, there’s something to be said for white bread and Kraft singles. I recall laying on the dining room floor chatting with my mom while she prepared dinner many times. Oh, what I would give to relive just one of those conversations.
